It was in the late 20th century, more precisely in 1995, that the Magalhães family decided to create the brand DornaVelha as a DOC Douro and, later, to relaunch the Magalhães brand name as Port Wine. Due to the quality, the wines have received important national and international prizes.

The Dorna Velha brand is also known for its pioneering work in monovarietal Douro wines. Throughout its history, the Estate has produced wines from native varieties, such as Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional.

As to Port Wine, with the Magalhães brand name, the Estate produces Tawny and Ruby wines, especially the particular categories such as the Late Bottle Vintage and Vintage wines, due to the privileged location of Quinta do Silval, in the Pinhão River valley, in Vale de Mendiz, allowing it to benefit from the best grapes that the Douro region has to offer.
